What to do on the Gold Coast this summer

What to do on the Gold Coast this summer

Gold Coast is not just surf, sand and sun… but even if it was, are you complaining?!

If you need some inspiration and activities during this summer break, we have your back.

Gold Coast has always been one of the top holiday destinations for a reason! Let’s just say that we truly know how to have fun…

Join us this summer too and embrace real Gold Coast living with our top 10 summer activities.

If you’re up for an adventure…

You can’t possibly say you’ve had a true Gold Coast summer without trying Whale Watching! Summer especially is the best time of the year to see humpback whales migrating south, often with a playful (and incredibly cute) baby.

Going whale watching means you’re more than likely to see all sorts of marine animals in their natural habitat too. Think of dolphins and turtles playing along with whales.

If whales are not for you (we’ll try not to judge…), summer on the Gold Coast could be your perfect opportunity to learn how to surf! It’s never too late to learn and if it turns out to be your passion… you’ll thank us later.

Finally, if the ocean is still calling you, you should take a freediving course. Choose between a 1 or 2-day course and get your certificate right away.

Prefer to keep your feet dry? Get your adrenaline pumping at Movie World and have the best theme park adventure.

If you are a beach bum…

There’s no better way than spending a hot steamy day in Burliegh Heads or Main Beach and then heading for an ice-cold drink or gelato (we recommend Messina!).

Or, bring your pet along to the pet-friendly Tallebudgera Creek and cool off in peace there.

If you’re all about culture…

Immerse yourself into the culture at HOTA! With their seasonal exhibitions, Sunday markets, comedy shows and international movies, you’ll be busy for the entire day.

The museum has a huge green area outside, making it the perfect place to relax on a hot summer day.

More interested in wildlife? Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place for you then!! Walk in the (mostly) shaded sanctuary and learn everything about the gorgeous Australian wildlife.

If all you can think of is food…

Indulge in street food at Miami Marketta. This is the ‘place to be’ to have some delicious food and drinks at night while cooling off after a long day in the sun. Enjoy live music too and buy from local artists.

Or if you want to cool down with a drink (or four, enjoy the view at the gorgeous Burleigh Heads Pavillion

We hope our ideas will inspire you to have the best summer break! What activity will you tackle first?

Remember to look after your body and wear some sunscreen too.
